How to Keep Your Skin Free of Acne and Breakouts
Oily skin is prone to blackheads, breakouts, and large pores, especially in the T-zone
(forehead, nose, and chin areas).  Additionally, oily hair products tend to aggravate our
skin, especially along the forehead.

Too much oil causes the pores to become clogged with a mixture of sebum and dead
skin cells.  Accumulated sebum contains propionic acid bacteria, which is released
into the tissue causing an inflammatory reaction.  It is the propionic acid bacteria that
causes acne.

This acne-causing bacteria cannot survive in the presence of oxygen.  So the best way
to control acne and all breakouts is to keep the skin very clean.  A deep pore skin
cleanser (
Clarifying Souffle) will help oxygenate the pores and an astringent will help
destroy the bacteria thus controlling breakouts.

Before you attempt any blemish control treatment, be sure that you are using the right
routine and technique.  Avoid scrubbing, vigorous washing, loofah sponges, Buff Puffs
and abrasive scrubs.  The right routine can make a real difference in the way your skin
looks.  For the best looking skin, get a skin care program and stick with it. To control
breakouts and keep the skin clear, the entire face must be treated daily.

Lastly,
never extract, squeeze, break or probe breakouts.  Squeezing can damage the
surrounding skin and result in scarring and/or hyperpigmentation which can take
months or years to fade.
